“Lizard, when your tail has come free
Due to lizard caudal autonomy
You can go there, to the Y.L.C.A.
They have soothing essential oils for your lil’ nub.”
- “Y.L.C.A.”, the alternate lizard lyrics for the Village People song, “Y.M.C.A.”
The Young Lizards’ Christian Association (YLCA) is the same thing as the YMCA, but with facilities designed for lizards and other non-humans.
That’s pretty much it. I mean I keep slapping “lizard” on the front of familiar concepts; I don’t want to patronize you guys with explanations.
Mothman volunteers there. Also.
Cobra VS Croc
Lizard people street artist duo Cobra VS Croc painted on the side of the YLCA in Fort Worth, Texas. The mural showed Cobra and Croc in line behind Jesus, all three carrying their own crosses. Jesus had a halo and appeared solemn and graciously pained, but Cobra and Croc were dripping with sweat, comic expressions of misery on their faces. The YLCA had the wall repainted within a week, saying the art was “an attempt to disrespect Christ and the Holy Scriptures.” Cobra and Croc released a response, poking fun at the YLCA, claiming “interpreting the piece as intentional disrespect is eisegesis.”
